While at the Patchings Art Festival in June 2014, I had the enormous pleasure of meeting and interviewing the wonderful Haidee-Jo Summers. I’m a great admirer of Haidee and have been following her work on social media, and she is one of the most prolific en plein air artists in the UK.

Haidee is an English artist who loves to paint light and colour.

She was awarded the title ‘Artist of the year 2012’ by the SAA (Society of all artists), and began writing feature articles for the UK’s The Artist magazine.

In recent years her work has been juried into the Royal Institute of Oil painters and the Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London and The Artist/Patchings annual competition where she has twice won a Pro Arte brush award as well as a Royal Talens award.

In 2014 she received The Artist purchase award for her painting ‘Sails up in harbour’, the prestigious prize selected by Ken Howard RA OBE.

She was the only international artist from 21 professional artists invited to participate in the ‘Florida’s forgotten coast plein air invitational’ in 2013 and is becoming well known as a leading plein air artist in the UK.

In 2014 Haidee-Jo has been awarded the £5000 Buxton Spa prize for her plein air painting ‘Walking through buttercups’.

She lives in rural Lincolnshire with her husband Tim, and on a beautiful island in France so she always has great subjects that she loves to paint en plein air.
