While at the Patchings Art Festival in June 2014, I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing the wonderful Jenny Keal. I’m a great admirer of Jenny’s work as a pastel and watercolour artist and best-selling author.
Jenny Keal background
Jenny Keal paints predominantly in Pastel and her main interest is in vernacular architecture, but she also draws her inspiration from the rich history of the landscape and the atmospheric effects of the weather.
Jenny Keal was born in Southampton and lived for most of her life in the New Forest. She was interested in art from childhood and continued to paint as a hobby while her children were small.
She joined Romsey Art Group in 1990 and met her husband, David Bellamy. After discovering pastels, her painting flourished and she became a full-time artist and art tutor.
Jenny demonstrates to art societies, has written two books on painting with pastels, and she regularly contributes articles for Leisure Painter magazine.
She is also a very keen gardener and lover of nature.
