During my weekend at the Patchings Art Festival in June 2013 I managed to corner the artist Noel Gregory for an interview. Noel Gregory studied art at the High Wycombe College of Art in the 1960s going on to get an Art Teachers Diploma at Bournemouth college of Art. He taught art at Newlands Teachers Training College before starting the art department at Caldicott School, Farnham Royal and has always had a real passion for art.
In the late 1970s he opened his own art gallery in Farnham Common, which he ran for 25 years, and he specialised in Victorian images and eventually his own work.
Ten years ago he was approached by Search Press who invited him to write “Painting in Oils” which went on to be translated into 16 languages and become a best seller. He is now working on a Realism to Abstract book for Search Press which will be his 8th book for them. He is a regular contributor to The Artist magazine.
Having known Noel Gregory for many years, it was very comforting to hear his enthusiastic voice again, sadly after his passing last year…
